Quality foods, professional

I recently tried Chef Tollu’s food for the first time during my visit to Nigeria, and I must say the experience exceeded my expectations. I ordered the jollof rice and asun rice, and it was immediately clear that Chef Tollu’s takes quality seriously. From the food itself to the packaging and even the constant communication throughout the process, everything felt intentional and professional. The meals were flavorful, well-prepared, and worth every naira spent. Considering the price point, the value for money is genuinely impressive. Compared to many other food-by-the-bowl or cooler vendors around, Chef Tollu’s stands out effortlessly. The quality, taste, and overall experience place them a step above most. I truly enjoyed my orders and would gladly keep coming back anytime I’m in Nigeria

Review of Sumec Plaza

Recommend!

In the past year, I bought two generators from them for family members, To date, the generators work well, no issues at all. More importantly, my experience with Sumec Plaza has always been smooth and direct. They communicate effectively and follow up until your product is delivered and I had both experiences. At some point, there was connectivity issues on the first generator bought, sent them an email and they almost wanted to send a technician to investigate and fix the problem until my people found a way to resolve the problem. Good quality and great communication. From an over satisfied customer!

Review of Nexxa's Kitchen

Overpriced, terrible and disappointing!

I recently placed a bulk order from Nexxa Kitchen, opting for two of their popular dishes: Oha soup and Nkwobi, 5 liters each. The Oha soup cost N85,000, while the Nkwobi came in at N120,000. Given the pricing, expectations were understandably high. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of what one would expect at that level.

Starting with the Nkwobi, the major issue was hygiene. The cow legs were clearly not properly cleaned, and there was a noticeable presence of sand in the meat. It got to a point where chewing became uncomfortable, as you could literally feel the grit. For a dish that is already considered a delicacy, this was quite disappointing. The cow legs had ridiculous amounts of sand!

The Oha soup was no better. The taste was off and difficult to enjoy, likely due to an excessive use of potash, achi, or other thickening agents. Instead of the rich, balanced flavor Oha soup is known for, it turned out overwhelming and almost inedible.

What made the experience even more frustrating was the lack of value in terms of ingredients. For N85,000 worth of Oha soup, one would reasonably expect a good mix of proteins. However, there was no beef at all, only tripe (shaki) and cow skin (ponmo). At that price point, the absence of proper meat felt like a major letdown. Overall, the food did not meet expectations in terms of quality, taste, or value. Everyone who ate the meal shared the same reaction. It was disappointing and, frankly, off-putting.

It is also worth mentioning that the presentation seen in Nexxa Kitchen’s social media videos does not reflect the actual product. The difference between what is advertised and what is delivered is quite noticeable.

Based on this experience, Nexxa Kitchen may not be the best choice if you are looking for both quality and value for money.

Reliable, faster and better than their competition

Glovo was the most dependable food delivery service I used during my recent trip to Nigeria, and it was my first time trying the platform. From my arrival in Lagos to my time in Abuja and back to Lagos, their quick response times and speedy deliveries made the experience smooth and stress-free. The app is clean, intuitive, and easy to use. Their riders were courteous and efficient, and my orders consistently arrived faster than those from other services. I would definitely use Glovo again on my next visit to Nigeria.

Disappointing Experience Flying ValueJet

I had a very disappointing experience flying ValueJet from Abuja to Lagos. My flight (VK207) was delayed for more than an hour without prior notice, and passengers were left waiting with no explanation or apology. When boarding eventually began, we were unexpectedly told we would be flying with a different airline, Cally Air, which I did not book. This sudden change caused confusion, as no clarification was provided.

Although a change of aircraft should not normally be a problem, the plane used was extremely small, with steep and narrow stairs that made boarding and disembarking difficult. Several older passengers needed assistance, and even for younger passengers, the stairs felt unsafe and posed a risk of injury.

ValueJet owed its customers clear communication and an apology, but neither was offered. The handling of the situation suggested a lack of regard for passengers. This was my first time flying with ValueJet, and it was a deeply unsatisfactory experience. I will not be flying with ValueJet again.

Account Closed Without Notice, Funds Withheld

I kept a decent amount of money in my Chowdeck wallet, hoping to use it when I leave for Nigeria (from the US). Chowdeck closed my account with no email warning or reasons. I only got to know my account was "suspended" when I reached out to their Instagram support personnel, who eventually ghosted me as they clearly didn't have answers to how I could get my account back. I got some parts of the money, and I have more than N200,000 left that has not been processed or returned to me. The account is gone and every attempt to reach Chowdeck via multiple channels failed.
